Celebrating 60 Years of Tach-It – 2

 In

As Ben Clements and Sons, Inc. continued to grow in the tag attaching market, the Tach-It trademark became well known for the highest quality tagging products sold.  To better serve our distributors and customers, in 1977, Ben Clements and Sons, Inc established their international headquarters in South Hackensack, New Jersey.  We are still in this location today.  At this time, and with the technology in manufacturing that our factory had, we expanded our plastic division to include box cutters, blades and cable ties.  Often call zip ties and wire ties because of their use in the electronics industry, Ben Clements and Sons, Inc was the fist company to introduce cable ties to the packaging industry as an option to consolidate and secure products together and into packaging.

In the late 1970’s Ben Clements and Sons made their first move into the twist tie market by introducing the Model #3555 twist tie machine.  As the only manual twist tie machine in the marketplace, the Model #3555 immediately sold successfully into the bakery and food service marketplace.

This is where I entered the story.  In 1980, and right after I earned my driver’s license, I started working in the warehouse after school and during school holidays.  My main job was to re-wind twist tie ribbon from master rolls into the smaller size spools used in our machine.  I made a game of this to see if each day, I could produce more spools than the day before.  When I wasn’t working on the twist tie ribbon, I learned how to pack and ship orders and how a warehouse works.

Jumping ahead, our twist tie machinery line has increased and today we are the gloabl leader in the twist tie marketplace.  Our Tach-It Model #3567 is the most internationally recognized and technologically advanced twist tie machine in the market.  With no reciprocating arm for operator safety, a straight-line ribbon feed and an immediate 25% in consumable savings, the Model #3567 has these and other advantages over any other machine in the marketplace.  Tach-It also has other models of twist tie machines for your particular application.

In our next chapter of this story, I will advise how we became the leader in the North American market on tape and label dispensers.
